The Staff at Saint Therese
Catherine McGuire, Director of Religious Education
Catherine (Cathy) McGuire earned her Certificate of Religious Education from the College of
St. Elizabeth and Master Catechist Certification from the Newark Diocese. Prior to coming to
our parish, for 12 years Cathy had been the Coordinator of the Religious Education program of St. Teresa
of Avila Parish, in Summit, NJ with more than 1200 students and a Vacation Bible School of 300
participants.
Cathy and her family have been parishioners at St. Teresa’s for the last 20 years and have used her gifts
to help in many Ministries of the parish including Children’s Liturgy, as an Extraordinary Minister,
Parish Retreat Team member, Welcome Committee member and more. Cathy is currently the Mid Atlantic
Representative of the National Association of Catechetical Directors. Cathy and her husband Dennis have
been married 35 years and have 4 adult children.
Cathy looks forward to meeting and working with the families of the parish to help nurture the children
as they grow in faith and love in this vibrant community of St. Therese.
