The Staff at Saint Therese
Rev. Joseph Davis, Pastor
I was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the 9th of 10 children. My mom and dad, Helen and James, saw to
it that we all received a strong Catholic Education. We all attended St. Mary’s school until 8th grade, but
some of my older siblings went onto public school to learn a trade. I graduated from St. Mary’s High
School in 1962, Seton Hall University in 1966, and was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Paterson on
May 27, 1972.
The early portion of my priesthood was spent in education, I hold my Masters Degree in Administration
and Supervision from Seton Hall University, which I received in 1976. I taught at two Catholic High
Schools and was the Principal of Newman Prep in Wayne for 8 years. I was then an associate at Assumption
Parish in Morristown for two years and was appointed Pastor of St. Therese Parish on June 1, 1986.
I try as best as I can as the Pastor of our parish to oversee and be involved with all of our spiritual,
pastoral and Christian outreach programs. Obviously I can’t be in charge of every program, however I
have an excellent staff who meets monthly with me to review and evaluate all the good work that is being
done here at St. Therese.
