The Staff at Saint Therese
Sister Mary Elizabeth Davies, S.C., School Principal
The principal of St. Therese School is Sister Mary Elizabeth Davies, S.C., a Sister of Charity of
Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, since September 6, 1953.
I have been involved in Catholic education from my earliest days through my graduate work. Teaching
has always been my great love. In September, I will have completed fifty-four years in Catholic
education. I’ve taught many different grade levels as well as being vice-principal and acting principal.
Since September, 1992, I have been the principal of Saint Therese School in Succasunna, NJ. They have
been great years because of the support of our pastor, Fr. Joseph Davis, the staff, faculty, parents
and students.
Principals foster community among faculty and students. They understand that Catholic School is part
of a larger community, regular and secular. They collaborate with parent, area, and diocesan personnel
in planning and implementing programs for a total, integrated approach to catechesis. They also establish
norms and procedures of accountability and evaluation within the school, and in relation to the larger
community.
The principal is always available to meet with parents and students at any time. They wear many
different hats during an ordinary day.
